After cutting its teeth in Africa and Europe, Fantasy Sports Interactive is preparing to take its latest product across the Atlantic. By combining the two genres, Fixed- Odds-Fantasy provides fantasy players with a smooth and user-friendly transition into traditional sportsbook, says CEO Dennis Tsalikis and COO Bill Mexias – with significant cross-sell potential for operators.

iGaming Times: What makes your Fixed-Odds-Fantasy product unique and what technology are you using to achieve it?

FSI’s Fixed-Odds-Fantasy (#FOF) is a world-first Fantasy Sportsbook Suite – a fusion of betting and gaming – introducing brand new betting markets to the iGaming and betting industry. It’s powered by a unique combination of AI, machine learning and business experience.

The Odds generation methodology of the Fixed-Odds-Fantasy Suite is based on detailed statistics from trusted, world-renowned providers such as Stats Perform and Sportradar. The algorithm is based on advanced statistical modelling and the correlation between numerous sports stats and significant factors, using over 150 KPIs per Athlete and the dedicated FSI Scoring System.

Essentially, FSI’s original Fixed-Odds- Fantasy Suite combines Sportsbook with Skill Gaming, attracting a variety of audiences through traditional betting concepts and user engagement.

iGT: What was your rationale for combining elements of fantasy with traditional sports betting?

FSI introduced the first betting-oriented Fantasy gaming site in Europe with our brand “Bet4theBest” between 2014-2017. We launched original fantasy betting offerings such as “Fantasy Coupon” and “Fantasy Derbies” and realized the potential of such a combination.

Having this experience and the audience’s positive feedback, we were certain that a fusion of sportsbook and fantasy sports – our Fixed-Odds-Fantasy – is the all-around solution that works both for consumers and operators.

We started out with a Team-based Fixed-Odds-Fantasy offering, actively combining fantasy sports gameplay and odds betting, and went on to extend FOF to a Fantasy Sportsbook Suite featuring a Fixed-Odds-Fantasy Under/Over market and the Fixed-Odds-Fantasy Versus market, featuring head-to-head events between popular athletes.

With Fixed-Odds-Fantasy markets, players enjoy a complete sportsbook experience as they are able to bet on single events and place accumulator bets as well. Operators on the other hand, enjoy the business flexibility Fixed-Odds- Fantasy Sportsbook offers, by eliminating the need for player liquidity and the high Guaranteed Cash Prizes that DFS required.

iGT: Why might this combination be suitable for new markets as they come online in the US?

The current US market and its evolution throughout the years is another important factor taken into consideration through the development of Fixed-Odds- Fantasy.

The launch and boom of Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) as a fast and rather cash-centric type of Fantasy, made clear that the US audience wanted an open and regulated betting market.

The audiences of the freshly-regulated States need a user-friendly and attractive betting offering. These users are beginner bettors, but they are well-acquainted with Fantasy Sports. The Fixed-Odds-Fantasy Suite appeals to their mentality and smoothly introduces sportsbook markets to the broad fantasy audience. Additionally, it can enable operators to offer Fantasy and compete with Fantasy Sports giants DraftKings and FanDuel on equal terms, in a fantasy-odds-based turf. Furthermore, because of the market’s distinctive profile, Fixed-Odds-Fantasy offers cross-selling opportunities for sportsbook operators entering the US market.

iGT: What are your hopes for ICE and the rest of 2020?

This is the second year for us exhibiting at ICE London. ICE London 2019 was a great debut for us, and we were highly successful in premiering Fixed-Odds-Fantasy and setting the foundations for a very successful year: this is where we secured partnerships with Betting Entertainment Technologies (B.E.T) and OPAP. In 2020, we return to showcase the evolution of Fixed-Odds-Fantasy to a Fantasy Sportsbook Suite, discuss our exclusive Fantasy Odds generation, as well as current and future projects – including Fixed-Odds-Fantasy’s integration with one of B.E.T’s most important clients, Hollywoodbets, and a FOF Under/Over pilot launched with WLA member, OPAP via SSBTs and coupon.

Our goal for ICE London 2020 is to communicate and share the company’s overall evolution and progress through FSI’s original Fixed-Odds-Fantasy Suite and innovative outlook. We look forward to discussing the potential of gaming and betting fusion: how the industry views this ahead of the new decade and why we feel so strongly about Fixed-Odds-Fantasy as a fusion of both genres.
