FanDuel, a subsidiary of Flutter Entertainment, has become the authorised gaming partner of the MLB – giving it access to the league’s official data and stats.
FanDuel is now the third sports betting outfit to become affiliated with the MLB after it forged similar agreement with DraftKings and MGM Resorts’ Roar Digital venture with GVC.
“Fantasy sports and sports betting have become a national pastime in their own right, so it’s natural to join forces with MLB,” FanDuel president and chief operating officer, Kip Levin, explained. “The MLB clearly understands how working together can be beneficial for baseball fans and both companies alike.”
The MLB has also signed data deals with Sportradar which is allowed to distribute the leagues data to other operators; while the Perform Group has also struck a data integrity partnership.
Sportradar also signed an exclusive data deal with America’s most followed league, the NFL, in August, to sell it on to gambling operators – representing the first time the league has agreed to share its data with gambling companies.
Regarding the FanDuel agreement, Kenny Gersh, executive vice president, gaming and new business ventures at MLB, added: “Baseball is one of the most popular sports to bet on and partnering with MLB allows us to make the betting experience even better for our customers. With an enhanced betting experience, sports fans are watching more baseball as they have a stake in the game.
