The Colombian regulator updated delegates to FADJA on another ten percent lift in gaming revenue, to $183m, in 2018.

Coljuegos said the lift was down to one of the highest aggregate return-to-player rates, of 89 percent among regulated games.

This was buttressed by enhanced capabilities in blocking illegal unlicensed sites. Juan Perez Hidalgo, president of Coljuegos, said the total number of registered players was up to 2.12m today – split between 17 registered portals. The regulator collected more than $12m in operational rights fees from the market.

“At the end of 2018, the gambling industry in Colombia became an international benchmark in terms of innovation, diversification of its portfolio and, of course, regulation,” Perez Hidalgo said in his host speech. “From Coljuegos we have achieved very important advances for the growth of a sector that generates quality jobs, contributes to economic growth and to the financing of the Colombians health.”
