Parimatch has revealed that the UFC 229 fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor was the most popular in the sport’s history, with 120,000 customers betting on the outcome.
The online operator, and recently-appointed official UFC betting partner, stated that the Las Vegas match generated over $1.5m in wagers, with 60 percent placed on eventual victor Nurmagomedov.
“The popularity of mixed martial arts, and the UFC, continues to thrive and expand across the world,” said Parimatch CEO Sergey Portnov.
“The Parimatch betting platform and partnership only helped add to the excitement of UFC 229 for its global fanbase.”
The fight also eclipsed its rival bouts in the boxing world, attracting double the bets placed on McGregor’s fight against Floyd Mayweather, and three times as many bets as Anthony Joshua’s 2017 WBA and IBO boxing heavyweight title win.
Parimatch became the principal UFC marketing partner in September, with the international agreement marking a first for the Commonwealth of Independent States region.
“We are thrilled to be in business with Parimatch,” aid UFC VP partner- ships Rene Valencia, “a global brand that has grown from a small firm to one of the world’s largest international gaming networks in just a few short decades.”
