EGT Interactive, has secured a foothold in the Colombian markets through a joint venture with resident Vicca Group. Managing director, Todor Zahariev, explains what this means for the firm and how he expects to retain a growing share of LatAm’s notoriously loyal clientele.
EGT Interactive has expanded its presence worldwide by making a move into Latin America.
In July the operator successfully completed a deal with zamba.co and making it one of the first igaming companies with a certified video slots game on the Colombian igaming market.
The partnership, a joint venture between the Colombian Vicca Group and EGT Interactive partner GAMING1, starts with a package of 20 games and will grow gradually.

iGAMING TIMES: What do you think Colombian players are looking for, and how can EGT Interactive bring what’s missing to the market?
Todor Zahariev: Colombia was the first Latin American country to fully regulate online gam- bling in 2016 and since then the market is in constant developing. The scope for growth in the sector is significant and sports betting and gambling is established as a popular activity for the local people. The Colombian player is a very loyal customer. They prefer to play the traditional hot games, but at the same time we can notice recently that they are also attracted by the table games and jackpots. As of now, EGT Interactive already certified 20 of our best performing games on the Colombian market and that is how we want to declare our great willing to leave a big footprint in the market. Our games are characterized by attractive mathematic, great graph- ics, amazing sounds and exciting 4-level mystery jackpot. We are already live with zamba.co and in the very near future we are expecting our games to be available on the web site of one of the biggest international operators in Colombia.
iGT: You’ve said that Colombia is a fast growing, “but still complicated market”. What do you see will be the main challenges in being there?
TZ: Our company is strictly focused to operate on regulated markets and moving into new regulated territory is always a challenge for us. But since our games are compliant with all the requirements of the local regulator and thanks to our land-based experience in the Colombian market, we are very positive that soon EGT Interactive will become one of the top-performing online games providers here.
iGT: How important is Latin America to EGT Interactive’s growth strategy – and how might you be able to leverage your presence in the region?
TZ: Latin America is one of the most attractive regions for its extremely significant betting and gaming opportunity, as well as with its rapid growth, leading to multibillion-dollar revenues. That is why the whole region is one of the main focuses of EGT Interactive growth strategy for the following years. Furthermore, the fact that our land-based products have become so preferred in the region, give us the right to be sure we are headed in the right direction.
