Caesars Entertainment has partnered with Scientific Games to launch regulated sports betting at two of the operator’s Mississippi properties.
The Caesars Horseshoe Tunica Casino and the Harrah’s Gulf Coast Casino have both integrated the OpenBet product suite, operated by the gambling firm’s igaming arm, SG Digital.
“The launch of sports betting in Mississippi is not only a great step forward in our partnership with Caesars, but also a testament to our commitment to speed to market delivery,” said SG Digital CTO Chris Armes.
“The deployment of Caesars sportsbooks has been one of the fastest ever deployments of our platform. Our cross-functional teams across the globe worked tirelessly from commercial sign-off through to go-live.”
The launch follows a July announcement by Caesars that Scientific Games would also power the operator’s sports betting offering in the state of New Jersey, at Bally’s Wild Wild West and Harrah’s Atlantic City.
Scientific Games also unveiled plans this month to launch a virtual sports betting offering in Pennsylvania in an association with the state’s lottery, branded Xpress Sports, which Pennsylvania Lottery stated will “appeal to Pennsylvanians’ passion for sports.”
Alongside this Caesars and SG Digital partnership, Mississippi has also welcomed two sports betting ventures through Churchill Downs, with Harlow’s Casino Resort and the Riverwalk Casino Hotel both operating the BetAmerica platform.
Churchill Downs Incorporated CEO Bill Carstanjen called the Mississippi market “a great opportunity” for the racetrack and casino operator.
“We will take everything we learn from this experience to improve our offering in Mississippi and other markets over time.”
