As GLI prepares to set up shop at G2E Asia, Ian Hughes, VP of Global Services, describes how the company’s core clientele, regulators, have expanded across the continent, both offline and on.

iGAMING TIMES: How important is attending G2E Asia for your company, for how many years have you attended the show?

IAN HUGHES: Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) is pleased to celebrate its 10th anniversary serving the growing Asian-Pacific gaming market. GLI’s enthusiastic participation in the region’s most important and prestigious gaming conference since its inception underscores the company’s continuing commitment to delivering its world-class testing, certification, and professional services to this key market sector.

iGT: Which of your products or solutions are you highlighting for this edition of G2E Asia, and why?

IH: Cybersecurity and gaming/lottery vulnerability issues continue to drive the conversation among Asian gaming operators, suppliers, and regulators. Recently, GLI became the first lab to successfully complete and issue IP Blocking Certificates for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) licensees pursuant to PAGCOR’s regulations. This milestone underscores the importance of protecting consumer data and mitigating security risks for gaming and lottery operators throughout the APAC region. Consequently, GLI will be highlighting its wide range of cybersecurity services to meet the unique needs of the Asian gaming industry through its Bulletproof cybersecurity division at this year’s show.

Additionally, GLI will also showcase its world- class independent testing and certification services for developing Asian manufacturers and suppliers. From the existing premier markets of Macau, Singapore and the Philippines, to the emerging regulated markets such as Cambodia, Vietnam and South Korea, GLI can deliver the industry’s highest quality and best value testing to meet suppliers’ needs.

iGT: What will be your focuses in the Asia-Pacific region in 2018, are you expanding in a particular product segment, or entering any new markets etc?

IH: This year at G2E Asia, GLI will showcase a number of mission-critical cybersecurity services now available to the Asian gaming market through Bulletproof, a GLI Company. One of the key capabilities on display at GLI’s booth #904 will be Bullet- proof’s array of cybersecurity risk assessment services.

Bulletproof has performed more than 150 unique network risk assessments in the gaming industry. This proven gaming industry expertise includes vulnerability assessment and penetration testing designed to examine systems and people for systemic vulnerabilities using industry-standard tools and techniques. GLI adheres to the most stringent ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, and PCI (DSS) international information management, security, and privacy control standards.

iGT: What kind of business successes has your company achieved in the Asia-Pacific region in the past 12 months? Have you entered any new markets or made any major deployments?

IH: With more than 20 years of operations in APAC, GLI is the most qualified and experienced independent gaming laboratory in the region. GLI continues to undertake evaluations for all types of gaming devices from all the manufacturers who supply gaming products for the Macau Jurisdiction. GLI also performs certification for the DICJ and has been working closely with such regional regulatory bodies as PAGCOR. GLI is authorised to provide independent testing and professional services to the Philippines, all Australian states and territories, New Zealand, Macau, Singapore, and other APAC gaming jurisdictions.

iGT: What would you identify as the distinctive features of the Macau market? On the product front, where do you think the market is leading in terms of trends?
