Mo Salah is being backed to land the Ballon D’Or – continuing his brilliant season.
The Egyptian striker has scored more over 40 goals for Liverpool FC this season and he has been named PFA Player of the Year, which was added to his African Player of the Year crown.
“This is on, Salah is a genuine contender for this award,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Pete Watton. “After his Player of the Year win, he is now into 7/4 – just behind Messi at 3/1 and the favourite Ronaldo at 11/10.
Salah was 9/1 at the start of this month and amazingly was 100/1 at the turn of the year – it seems the public have backed the striker so do the Bookmakers who have slashed his odds.
Now he could become only the second African player ever to land the prestigious Golden Ball.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have monopolised the Ballon D’Or since 2007 – when Kaka won, since then it has been either the Portuguese or Argentine superstar who has taken the honour.
“Clearly Liverpool’s progress in Europe has helped and if, as expected, they beat Roma to make the Champions League final then their best player – Salah – could easily win this,” added Watton
Selected Ballon D’Or odds:
Cristiano Ronaldo 11/10
Lionel Messi 3/1
Mo Salah 11/10
Kevin De Bruyne 20/1
