24-hour esports channel Ginx TV secures Sky and ITV investment

ITV and Sky have each invested £1.5m in Ginx TV, gaining a 16.5 percent stake in the company.

 

[dropcap]U[/dropcap]K broadcasters’ ITV and Sky have invested into the 24-hour video gaming channel Ginx TV, marking their first move into the growing  eSports market.

ITV and Sky have each invested £1.5m (€1.75m) in Ginx TV for a reported 16.5 percent stake in the company. Furthermore, as investors the broadcasters will be given first rights to increase their shareholdings in the TV channel.

The Ginx esports TV channel is available in eleven languages across 41 territories providing 24/7 video games content to its consumers. It UK and Ireland eSports content is currently broadcast on Sky channel 470.

The London-based TV Channel reported gross assets of £900,000 (€1.05m) and a pre-tax loss of £700,000 (€815,120) in the year to 31 December 2015.
